The Duchess of Cambridge dazzled in an emerald green dress as she attended the party with her valiant husband, who was recovering from his daring exploits piloting a search and rescue helicopter in Anglesey.

Kate's wedding dress designer Sarah Burton was meanwhile being named designer of the year at the British Fashion Awards.
The Duchess of Cambridge herself was nominated for the British Style Award, but it was won by TV presenter and fashion icon Alexa Chung for the second year in a row.
Guests at the royal bash included Radio One presenter Fearne Cotton, broadcaster Andrew Marr, and This Morning host Phillip Schofield.
Fearne wore a black skirt, bright red blouse and matching nail polish to meet the Queen, who was dressed in a mint green jacket, olive skirt and black gloves.
Her Majesty had amusingly renamed the palace's East Gallery - where the event was held - the Tweet Suite.
The 350 visitors were encouraged to post online messages about the sophisticated soiree, which comes ahead of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee next year.
It is the first gathering of its kind since the monarch staged a similar night in 2002, the year of her Golden Jubilee.
She conversed cheerfully with editors and bloggers during the glittering evening, as well as foreign media and regional journalists from across the UK.
The opulent East Gallery boasts displays about the Queen's Golden and Silver Jubilees and Queen Victoria's 1897 Diamond Jubilee.
The Queen and her state guests normally process through the gallery to the Ballroom for the State Banquet normally held on the first day of a visit.
It is covered with sumptuous carpet and features beautiful golden wall decorations, ornate candlesticks and carefully crafted vases."
